It's is a big year for the 'Youth Unlimited, Kawartha Youth For Christ' – they are celebrating their 30th anniversary. Tuesday May 13th at Calvary Church in Peterborough, there will be a celebration dinner that will mark 30-years of helping kids and youth in the area. It will also be fundraising event to help keep the ministry strong. It starts at 6:00. (705-743-2900)
Creation Ministries International is hosting a seminar at Word of LIFE in Owen Sound, to examine the truths of creation and the questions surrounding them. Thursday May 15th, everyone is invited for this free creation seminar, to discuss questions like 'what is the point of life', and 'has science disproved parts of the Bible?' It starts at 7:00. Hope Valley Day Camp is a free Christian day camp, located just outside of Peterborough. They rely completely on donations, and that way are able to allow kids to come at no charge. One of their big fundraisers will be held on May 16, 17, and 19th - a giant yard and plant sale. There will be plants, books, clothing, food, and more. The plant sale is only on the 17th. First Baptist Church in Barrie is hosting their 'Perennial & Bake Sale' on Saturday May 17th, from 8am to noon. There will be a large selection of ground covers and plants, like flowers, tomatoes, native plants, and so on. Don't forget to visit the bake tables too. Unity Christian High School in Barrie is planning having their annual 'perennial plant sale and garage sale' on May 17th from 8:00 to 2:00. There are all sorts of flowers, including specialty annuals, canna lilies, elephant ears, assorted hanging baskets, and much more. The flowers come from Bradford Green Houses but all proceeds go to the school. The bonus: you pay no taxes.
It'll be an evening of great music, and for an even better cause on Thursday May 22 in Huntsville. Faith Baptist Church is putting on a 'Concert of Hope' to raise money for the local chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society. Stephanie Isrealson, worship leader Paul Turner, and local violinist Amanda Penner will all be performing. It starts at 7:00. (705-789-2492)
Yorkview Community Church in Newmarket invites you to join them for a Dessert Auction and Pasta Dinner on Friday May 23rd at 6:30. It'll be a benefit fundraiser for the church's Thunder Bay Native Community outreach team. Come for great a pasta supper, and hang around for the dessert auction. All proceeds go to Team needs. Word of Life Bible Institute near Owen Sound invites you an evening of upbeat praise and worship on Friday May 23rd. The event is called “WorshipLIVE!”, and it will be an opportunity for Christians to give God glory, while being challenged with a message from the word. It starts at 8:00, there is no cost. Selwyn Outreach Centre in Peterborough is hosting world evangelist and healer Billy Burke the weekend of May 23rd and 24th. Friday the 23rd at 7:00 will be a 'Miracle Healing Service', and Saturday will be a teaching session starting at 10:00. All are welcome. Billy has his own personal testimony of being healed from brain cancer when he was 9-years old. (705-742-9258)
Camp Mini-Yo-We wants you to come take a tour of the campground, and learn about what the Christian camp consists of. On Sunday May 25th, the camp is having an open from 2:00 to 6:00, where you can take guided tours or participate in activities. It's great for parents thinking about camp for their kids. St. Paul's Anglican Church will be participating in the Midhurst-wide garage sale on Saturday May 31st from 8 am to noon. The sale will be in the parking lot of the church, refreshments will be available, and the youth will have a car wash. Come to the church parking lot between 8am and noon for some great buys. On the third Sunday of every month, come and worship God with Powerhouse Praise at Gentle Shepherd Church in Eugenia (in Grey Highlands, near Owen Sound). This is a great way for teens to hear the word of God, worship with the band, and have fun fellowshipping with other teens. Come and join them from 7:00 to 9:00. (519-334-3535)
Covenant Christian Reformed Church in Barrie is hosting a Coffee Break and Story Hour every Wednesday. Coffee Break is a Bible study and support group open to all ladies. Are you a musician who needs a place to play? St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church in Barrie is starting up a 'Youth Music Night' where musicians can play and practice, and fellowship with other youth. There is no cost, and you could be recruited for Sunday morning worship too. It runs every second Friday night, starting at 7:00. (705-721-9528)
